Kynar 500® is a premier
finish for colorful metal buildings. Originally specified by many
architects for long life finishing on metal curtain walls for tall
buildings and large industrial parks, Kynar 500 has grown in use
for painted aluminum extrusions such as windows and storefronts.
With the development of a wide
range of colors, textures and gloss available from our trademark
licensees, which are paint manufacturers, Kynar 500® is
a common finish used for metal coating at airports, malls, banks,
churches, sporting stadiums, office buildings, hotels and
restaurants. The durability of Kynar 500® makes it an
excellent choice for energy efficient cool roofing coatings.
Kynar® PVDF injection
molding and extrusion grades are commonly used to handle harsh
chemicals for long periods of time. Kynar® PVDF is
chemically resistant to halogens (chlorine, bromine, fluorine,
iodine) and strong acids even at high temperatures. As a wire
jacketing, Kynar® can be irradiated and used to
continuous temperatures up to 175°C and is popular for
being inherently flame resistant.
Kynar® PVDF and Kynar
Flex® PVDF resins are offered as pellets for easy
handling in compounding, molding and extrusion processes and as a
fine powder for making solutions or adding to other materials to
make high performance composites. In recent years, special high
performance grades of Kynar® PVDF have been introduced
for use as a binder material for the carbon electrodes in lithium
ion battery manufacture.
Kynar® polyvinylidene
fluoride (PVDF) is a tough, engineering thermoplastic that offers
an excellent balance of performance properties. It has the
characteristic stability of fluoropolymers when exposed to harsh
thermal, chemical, and ultraviolet environments. Kynar®
resins are readily melt-processed by standard methods, and
can be dissolved in polar solvents such as organic esters and
amines for coating applications.
Key Attributes of Kynar®
PVDF include:
- Mechanical strength and
toughness
